I believe it has been treated before. But their are different ways of capturing images and drawing arrows. Open the image you want to draw arrow on with any photo edito you want like paint. Just right click on the image and open with paint- from their you will see different options you want. Just toggle around those options and you will have whatever you want.

St. Vics: I suggest you download Greenshot from getgreenshot.org. It is a free and open source screenshot program for Microsoft Windows. This is what I've been using since I discovered it. In fact, it is the best so far for me.

Greenshot offers several modes for creating a Screenshot: e.g. "Capture region" which can be activated by just pressing ‘Prn Scrn’ button, allows to select an area of the screen by dragging a green rectangle to the desired position and size.

Another thing I like about it is that if you need to add annotations, highlightings or obfuscations to the screenshot the built-in image editor can be used. Greenshot's image editor is a basic vector graphics editor; however, it offers some pixel-based filters. It allows to draw basic shapes (rectangles, ellipses, lines and arrows) and add text to a screenshot.

Download it for free, install, try it and let us know your experience.

@Winnet thanks so much. Greenshot just did the magic perfectly. Although i would have loved to increase the thickness of the arrow but couldn't find the means. Nevertheless is okay. thanks once again.

@Yomiprof thanks for your concern and contribution. I had to go with Greenshot since it is much easier and accurate. thanks once again.

St. Vics: This is how to increase the thickness of the arrow;-
  • after the drawing, make sure that the arrow is still selected, then;
  • locate a line formatting bar just below the standard bar, you will see 'line thickness button;
  • then adjust it as you like.

See the attached snapshot for more details.

@Winnet, i guess i was in a hurry when i tried using it initially. Yesterday i played around with it and i was able to discover how to increase thickness and some other functions as well. I even used it to write on a picture i want to use for my blog's header background, it was perfect only that the outline of the text box remained on the picture. I tried every means to remove it but to no avail. However, thanks so much. I appreciate your effort.

St. Vics: This is how to remove the line border of the text box:-
1. after the typing of the text, make sure that the text box is still selected, then;
2. locate a line formatting bar just below the standard bar, you will see 'line thickness' button;
3. then adjust it to '0' zero. The outline will disappear.

See the attached snapshot for more details.
