This warning is meant for those that have Liberty Reserve Accounts:

There is an email currently circulating in various forms that looks as if it was sent from Liberty Reserve. It says that you should enter your account details on a particular website and after some hours or days, your account will be credited with some money.

This is a type of scam known as a phishing scam. The website where you are to enter your details is a fake website and what they want is to get your details so that they can get into your LR account and steal any funds that you have there.

Some other emails will tell you to send a certain amount of Liberty Reserve to a particular account and your own account will be credited with double that amount after a few days.

Below is an example scam message. Be warned, don't fall for this:

============================================
Please note that in all e-mails from Liberty Reserve we will:
Always address you by your first name.
Never send you any links or attached files.
Never ask you to send us your password and/or login PIN.

I just received a similar message now, I am sure it's another version of the scam message because when I pasted this copy I noticed there was a kind of active script that was linked to the reply button. It sniffed through my entire computer and collected all my private data that have to do with money, payment details, secure links I visited etc.

See the message below.

Winnet Could you please elaborate more on the above? Do you mean the reply button here or in the email and please how did you detect that the script was collecting secure data. Men this sounds scary...

I didn’t mean to scare anybody Tony but what I discovered indeed was so revealing; which means that these scammers have devised diverse sophisticated ways of capturing their prey by all means.

The reply button I referred to was not of the forum but of my email. What happened was when I wanted to paste the copied message straight to the forum, I decided to paste it in the MS Word first, lo and behold instead of seeing only the copied contents I saw mixtures of all kinds of data harvested from my PC that have to do with my private secure related data as well as my visited secure sites.

My candid advice to everyone is to always delete such suspected messages without trying to open it at all because I think that the script that did that data harvesting was activated when I opened the message.

Thanks for the warning.

But its become pertinent to note that scammers are upgrading on daily basis.
