Good evening sir/ma (sorry are u male or female?  ;D). What state are you located? Not all zenith bank branches process websurfer. If you go to a branch and they don't do it you can ask them to direct you to a branch that does it.

What we said about GTB was not in relation to debit cards. We only use GTB domiciliary account. Other banks have credit/debit cards but we have only used Websurfer from Zenith for our online payments.
Leave it for God, don't worry yourself. Leave it for God, don't cry no more.

We've not really tried using any other cards, only websurfer so we cant really say much about others. Websurfer is good for paying for things online: Things that are needed for online business in general

I really appreciate your response. I was at the head office of Zenith bank yesterday and it was confirmed that zenith bank don't have the websurfer any more, this mean its no longer available in and out of Ibadan. If zenith is stoping it, pls kindly find another good option for us. thanks.

Sorry guys for the delayed response, I'm sure that by now you already know why.

From the feedback we have been getting, it appears that zenith is phasing out the websurfer card state by state therefore some states still have it while some others don't. As of like two months ago, websurfer was still being issued in Benin because we procured a new one. In fact we even reloaded it about 3 weeks ago and there was no mention of stopping the service.

Asuni did they tell you of any alternative card? I think Zenith is now issuing Visa cards and these should also work with the Lessons we are sending. Actually, most if not all nigerian issued credit cards will work for the things we are teaching. Its just that websurfer is the one we have always used so we have the strongest experience there.

As alternatives, GTBank Mastercard and Zenithbank Visa. Also GTB ATM aka naira mastercard (atm card) also works but you have to activate it online, There is a process for this but when I tried doing it with my own card I got stuck somewhere but I know of many people who have done the activation, verified their naira mastercard and used it to pay for hosting and the other things we talk about in the Lessons. Visa and Mastercard issued by other banks should also work just fine.

We are still researching this matter and still receiving feedback. We will also make moves to find out  from Zenith bank here in Benin but if anyone goes to Zenith bank before we do, please ask them:

1. Are they stopping the websurfer nationwide or only in some states?

2. What is the process and requirements of getting their visa card

Also anyone in the house who has other cards should please try them and see if they work and let us know which cards worked and what is the process of getting those cards.

@chukwunete: These banks issue two types of cards. Mastercard and Visa. Websurfer is a type of mastercard.
Leave it for God, don't worry yourself. Leave it for God, don't cry no more.

Someone confirmed to me that websurfer is still being issued in Lagos, so guess its not a nationwide thing after all, or they've not gotten to Lagos and Benin yet.

Zenith also has a visa card which might prove to be a good and working alternative. Anybody with details on Zenith visa should please update this thread

No you don't have to go to Lagos because that would mean that whenever you need to reload it you have to start travelling all the way to Lagos. Better to get their Visa if its available in Ibadan. Like I said, although we have not used Zenith Visa before, it is very likely that it will still work. If you don't want to take that risk, then you can wait till we go to Zenith and get the Visa card and try it out ourselves to make sure. The problem is I can't be specific how soon we can do that but should be within the next two weeks. Please if anybody else has tried this, let us know.

And for your question: The person that told me said its from the head office of Zenith in Lagos but I'm not very sure where that is, when I ask him I'll update here.

:D :D :D 1.) I got my websurfer card today in Lagos, cost $120 dollars, having previously been to two other branches (TWICE) from where I was directed to a third branch. Note: do not go to the bank with one-dollar note denomination as it was declined at the counter and i eventually had to pay in $120 instead of the $130 dollar I had intended.

2.) I asked the zenith staff at the other two branches and was told that they are not sure when the new cards will be available in their branches, so anywhere you get it from, do not waste time

3.) I asked the lady how to refund my  zenith account and she told me that i should just walk in with the account number that must have been sent to my email and pay at the counter but did not ask if i can fund my account from any zenith bank.

So @ Tony, do U mean i cannot fund websurfer card from any other their branch, though i will still go to that branch to make further enquiries on that and also on ZENITH Visa card too. That is how far I have gone.

@problogger: CONGRATS. I believe you can fund the card only from any branch that processes websurfer (but not all of their branches process websurfer). In Benin We normally fund our card at any branch where they process Websurfer.

@asuni: Alright thanks for that update. The thing I noticed about Zenith is that some of the staff don't really know so much about processing the cards. I'm sure its because not so many people in the country are actually using these cards. If the form is not straightforward enough try to get the Lady to direct you to someone who is more knowledgeable.

@Tenilola you have to get the correct information, because there are 2 different option on the visa card, just like a personal account or a cooperate account so please check out a very good branch for them to explain well to you before you fill the form. Will feed the forum back where and when you can get both the Websufer  or Visa card in Lagos an Ibadan.

Dear All (Mr. Yummy - my colleague from Ibadan in particular),

I read the thread on Zenith Web surfer Card which was posted in October, 2011 with interest and wish to ask the following questions:

1.  Is Zenith Web surfer Card still in use or has it been cancelled by
      Zenith  bank?

 2.  It Zenith Web surfer Card is still in use, which branch of Zenith Bank
can I go to process my Zenith Web Surfer Card

Best regards,
Aare MacFally

Thank u very much Mr. Yummy for your prompt response.  How is Lagos?

Kindly do the search for me and feed me back.  You should also help me to enquire which branch of Zenith Bank Plc issue Zenith Websuffer Card in Ibadan.

I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

hello MacFally; as regards what u asked earlier, zenith bank web surfer is still in use for those who already have it; but the bank is no more issuing websurfer cards presntly. its been faced out and they have alternatives now.
there's a thread in the house that presented first bank VISA GOLD CARD as a good alternative. pls go throuugh it.

MacFally: You can visit any UBA and ask about their AfriCard debit card. I have it already and one thing I like about it is being able to load in Naira and spend in any currency.

Thank u all - winnet and encee,

U have furnished me with current and correct information.  I will go for Afrocard Debit Card from UBA or Visa Gold Card from First Bank Plc.

However, my last question is that can none-account holder apply and get the cards like Zenith Bank Websurfer?

Best regards,

Hello guys,

I've read all your comments concerning the Zenith Bank Websurfer card
and I decided to make my own research, in order to see how I can
establish what is happening with the websurfer card.

The fact is that, Zenith bank does not offer websurfer card any more.
What they are doing is this, they are trying to take it off gradually.
Maybe, from branch to branch, state to state as the case me be.

But, the good news is that, with their Visa Prepare Care,
you can even do more than what you were using the websurfer card to do.

It is reloadable, you can reload it with either GBP, USD or Euro. You can use
it at any Visa accepted ATM machine. You can use it at any Visa accepted
P.O.S terminal. You can as well use it for online payment.

How to Obtain a Visa Prepare Card:

Application forms are available at all Zenith bank branches
Complete application form, read terms and conditions carefully,
sign and summit to customer service
Make the applicable cash payment to the Teller using the
customised deposit slip
Take copy of your deposit slip to customer service for processing.
Initial deposit is $120 (exclusive of card fees)
Card is activated within 24  hours after receipt of card.

Activating a Visa Prepaid Card:

Allow 24 hours from time of collection card for activation to take effect

Re-loading a Visa Prepaid Card:

Go to any Zenith Bank branch with your Card Number.
Complete fully the Prepaid deposit slip and proceed to the teller point with your cash.
Your card will be re-credited within 48 hours. (Usually would be less). Charge per re-load is $5.

For more info about the Visa Prepare Card and other Visa Cards from Zenith Bank click here
You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login or call their Hotline: (01) 2782273.

It's possible if you believe it.
