I have that on my system already, but it's been long I updated it. I realised I have been attacked by this malware before I realised I'd not updated it. After updating, I run a new scan, but the ads are still showing. I even try deleting the malicious software from my cpanel, but it's not helping.

Please, Any help?

Non of them has worked o. I think the only option left now is formatting. But, am afraid I might lose all my valuable ebooks.

I hate when this sort of thing happens to me. Can be very painful. Olajideadetutu maybe you could back up some of the books to an external drive or other storage before formatting (but make sure you scan the drive before accessing it again after formatting, so as not to reinfect your computer).

I'm thinking of getting a CD and burning all my essential files on all of them at computer village. My question now is if I am planning to reinstall my ebooks, would the malware still be in the cdn follow it into my laptop again?

With many types of viruses the answer is yes. The virus file usually copies itself along whenever there is a copy operation. And with a cd you may not be able to clean it with an antivirus because the files are burned on. I suggest that you use a flash drive, memory card or external drive. That way you should be able to scan it and remove any viruses that may have been copied along

Yessssss
I was able to remove all the malwares and spywares on my laptop without formatting. I thought it right to come back here and give back to trhe forum incase of others that might face this type of threat in future. I DID IT. The name of the software is Malwarebytes. Very, very effective. You need to come and borrow my computer now and see how effective the speed is.

Thank you all.

Thanks for coming back to give us what worked for you. I am glad everything is fine now. I've used Malwarebytes a long time ago but I didn't know that they are still active.

Olajide,

Do you mind sharing the link to the Malwarebytes that you downloaded and used?

I'm sure most of us may find it useful.

Cheers!

Wow! I couldn't retrace the link again. But, the way I search for it was via wikipedia.org. Just type malware into their Search box, and it would bring a list of different ones you can use.

But, before I downloaded it, I checked amazon for reviews and the reviews were mostly what tripped me. It flushed out about 18 of them from my system. And also deletes them, but it's only a trial version for 14days

But Google can also do the trick for you. Just punch the name into their engine. Trust Google.

This is also my experience. One will just be surfing the net and all of a sudden an ad just pops up.

I shall try the malware web site you published
Thanks
