Domain Registration

 Good day Mr.Tony,
first of all i would like to say a big thank you to the people that made up the NG2G and NG44 respectively for their immense contribution towards our online experiences.

To my question, we were being instructed to first host our domain as a beginner which i have done successfully though with the WEB4AFRICA. Now, to register my domain name which was the next step i noticed that while searching for the name on NAMECHEAP.COM, i got an alert that the name has been taken of which was available at the point of domain hosting. I consider it unethical to at this point choose a different name as there would be a contradictions on both names...

Or what do you think?  Could it have been that the name was unavailable because i have initially hosted it successfully with a hosting company?

Your swift response shall be appreciated.

   Respectfully Yours!

According to our directives, you ought to search first on namecheap to make sure that the name is available before going ahead to buy the hosting and then coming back to namecheap to register the name.

It is possible that you may have selected an option that web4africa should register the domain name for you, in this case, they probably registered it for you.

Please answer the following questions so that we can diagnose what the situation might be:

1. Did you search for the name on Namecheap first before going ahead to register for hosting?

2. What is the domain name?

PS: If the worse comes to the worst, you may have to register another domain and use it as an add-on domain on the same hosting. This process is explained towards the end of Lesson 7.
Leave it for God, don't worry yourself. Leave it for God, don't cry no more.

Thanks Mr.Tony,
yes i did search for the name on the namecheap before proceeding to Web4africa to buy the hosting.

I am beginning to see that i was equally charged by web 4 africa for the domain registration.

Now, the major issue am facing right away is that; i actually could not access my C Panel using the  well come e mail i was sent. i could only see my client area with my user name and password.

This then makes it impossible for me to install WORD press to sail along with the lesson 6.  Although i have sent a mail to them regarding this expecting their reply.

my domain name like you asked is: crystalclearng.com

  Thanks Mr. Tony,
Yes i have received there response, there customer service was good thanks for the prescription. i followed the instruction they gave but by the time i got to the link for my C Panel i could not open it. this has been going on for days.

Remember you made mention of Egbe? the internet connection guy? i actually consulted him some weeks ago for a reasonable connection. But mean while, the web-proxy i was given was conflicting the  C panel link which was while i could not access my C Panel.

Later today i called him and he promised to give me another source which would open it.
I must confess this guy(Egbe) too was terrific. there customer service was equally excellent.
It's quite painful that i may not be able to practicalize this lesson until i eventually overcome this delay.

But i promise not to relent until i achieve my goals.

@Joy: If you used namecheap to search then dont worry you will not lose your domain.

The two Nigerian hosts mentioned in the ebook are syskay and Web4Africa. They are good enough for starters. syskay has some pretty cheap plans too.

But according to our directives in the ebook, if this is your very first time then you should start first with a free website and practice the things explained in the ebook, and when you feel you have gained experience you can move on to paid websites.
Success is a state of the mind

Thanks.
The name I always had in mind was not available. So it was kinda difficult getting another one. Please, i hope I dont lose it cos, it will be quite painful. I will start off with the free website lesson (lesson 8) as you advised. Thank you very much.

@Joy: You should realise that it is not always possible to get thye exact name we want because this is a worldwide thing and there are millions of people looking for similar names as you.

So if what you want is not available, you just have to look for an alternative version. After reading Lesson 10, you will get some ideas on how to pick alternative domains that are similar, in the event that the one you want is not available.

Hello Lateef,

Using ID protection or not depends on you. ID protection means that your domain registration details will be hidden so that nobody will be able to check who owns the domain from a public WHOIS search on a website like You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Whether you have it or not doesn't make much difference but if you don't mind whether people know the owner of the domain or not then no need for ID protection. We are not using domain protect on any of our websites.

If you had bought the domain from namecheap you would have gotten ID protection for free for the first one year. Hope this answers your question.
