Hello Admin,

I have read many times that if one wants to sell something online, one should select a Long Tail Keyword. This makes it possible to target buyer keywords and avoid browser keywords that are Short Tail Keywords that mostly have large search volume.

Please, what about if I want to go into an information niche that has a high search volume and a high number of competing websites: should I select a Short Tail Keyword or a Long Tail Keyword?

Thank you.

Buyer or browser keywords as you've put it, can either be long tail or short tail.

The reasoning behind selecting longtail keywords is that short tail keywords which are also buyer keywords tend to be more competitive so it is easier to target the buyer keywords among the less competitive longtail keywords that have less traffic/less competition.

But not all short tail buyer keywords have high competition and this is one of the reasons for keyword research. If you are lucky you might discover a short tail, high traffic buyer keyword with little competition and this could be the hidden source of unending niche wealth for you.

The best way to know what keywords to target is to generate a list of the top 30 keywords having the highest p-scores according to the sorting method described in lesson 3. On the other hand, you can chose all the keywords whose p-scores are higher than 8.

From these generated list, you can try to deduce which are buyer keywords (the long name for "buyer" keywords is keywords with commercial intent). There is no foolproof method to determine commercial keywords so you are left to use your discretion. See this link for more more about commercial intent: You are not allowed to view links. All in all, the strategy we pursue is using p-scores to determine what keywords to target, and then we concentrate on those among the list that have the highest p-scores and greater commercial intent according to our deductions.

After creating the posts and content to target this main list of keywords, we then start going after all the long tail keywords we can find, whether buyer or not. Long tail is a great way to get traffic any day.

In the coming lessons on SEO, we talk more about our keyword targeting strategies but while you are waiting, please feel free to ask more questions.

P.S: I saw that you removed that stuff yesterday. Hope your friends have been pacified. Cheers!
