Africa has seen a major boost in online trading in recent times, with e-commerce forming an integral part of overall economic growth in the region. Given the benefits of this burgeoning market, many consumers are on the look-out for ways to protect themselves from online predators and scammers.
According to a press release made available by e-commerce site MOBOfree, there are several ways that traders and users alike can keep themselves safe online. Here are a few:

Buy within your area. Trading close to your location may enable you to meet with the seller and look over the item before deciding whether you are willing to buy it or not.

Only make payment once the item has been received. Regardless of whether or not the item is being delivered, don't transfer funds until the item is in your hands. Sellers should also not send items until payment is received. It is always best to exchange the item and transfer funds at the same time.
Public spaces work best. Always arrange to meet at a public location, along with gaining as much information about the person you are going to meet as possible.

Don't disclose sensitive information. Never exchange sensitive details such as bank account numbers, PayPal or eBay information or any other details that may be used against you.
Trade in trust marketplaces. Ensure that you use credible sites for trading and that adequate security measures are in place to protect your transaction.

Common sense is key. The old adage usually reigns true - if it seems too good to be true, it probably is!
Be vigilant, remain safe and happy trading!

Thanks a lot for this information. I wish people will listen and be wise.
Leave it for God, don't worry yourself. Leave it for God, don't cry no more.
